Virgin Media Router Arrows Flashing Green

There are many problems that occur with Virgin Media’s routers, and it is essential to understand what causes these problems in order to resolve them. This error is bizarre as it does not mean your WiFi is not working. In fact, your Virginmedia WiFi is probably working great, but there is no internet to give out to your WiFi devices, so they will not connect to the internet.

To illustrate the issues that may occur with these media router lights routers, we have included a diagram to help you understand what is going on. 

The general issue is that the Hub shows two flashing green arrows, the bottom light is solid green, and the WiFi icon at the top is solid green. Most users check for service problems in their area, but Virgin reports no issues. 

The problem is usually associated with a connection that has gone down, and the internet connection will not reconnect. The issue is usually resolved by rebooting the router. The Virgin Media Router will normally automatically restart when it detects a connection problem and restart when it has a software update.

Virgin Media Green Arrows

In some cases, you can check if the router is connected to the CMTS by looking at the green arrow in the top right corner of the router. If it is not, then you need to contact Virgin Media, who is your CMTS provider, and ask them to reset the connection. If you still have problems, call Virgin Media customer services and ask for help.

Although your WiFi might be working fine, your WiFi devices cannot connect to the internet because there is no internet to give out.

You should also check the bottom light, which may indicate a problem. If it is flashing green, then the internet is working, but there is a problem with the internet connection. If the light is solid green, then the internet is not working.

If the internet is working, but the green arrows are flashing, you may need to check the port settings. If you have checked the port settings, and it still doesn’t work, you may need to call customer services and ask for help. 

You may need to restart the router to clear any errors.

Media Router Lights

The different router lights indicate other states and modes on your Virgin Hub. The green lights on your router usually indicate a problem with your 

internet connection. The lights are typically arranged in a pattern that tells you which lights are on.

The arrows in the bottom right corner of the router usually indicate problems with the CMTS connection. The arrow should be green, which means the connection is working. The arrow should be solid, which means the connection is working and the internet is working.

The lights in the top right corner of the router usually indicate problems with the router itself. The lights should be flashing green, which means the connection is working. The lights should be flashing red, which means the connection is not working.

You should check all of the router’s lights to ensure they are all working.

Hub Power Supply

Your router’s power supply has a lot to do with the operational state of your router. How? If your power supply is faulty, you will either have no internet connection if your router is off or intermittent connectivity if you have a temporary issue that comes and goes – such as a bad contact on your power plug that makes and breaks contacts. 

The arrows in the bottom right corner of the router usually indicate problems with the CMTS connection. The arrow should be green, which means the connection is working. The arrow should be solid, which means the connection is working and the internet is working.

The lights in the top right corner of the router usually indicate problems with the router itself. The lights should be flashing green, which means the connection is working. The lights should be flashing red, which means the connection is not working.

You should check all of the router’s lights to ensure they are all working.

Flashing Green Light

If you are having internet problems, you will probably see a continuous green light on your router. The easiest way to do this is by finding your router’s IP address and accessing it via an internet browser. In this example, we will use the 192.168.0.1 address.

Access your router’s settings by going to 192.168.0.1 through your browser.

If you haven’t logged in before, you need the router settings password from the bottom of the unit. You will then need to change this password.

Click Wireless>WPS>Advanced Settings once you’ve logged in

You can turn off WPS by disabling both WPS options. Click Save.

Reboot your computer by choosing Reset & Reboot from the Admin window.

By disabling WPS, the router should stop searching for the WPS kit, which is why it flashes.

Once you have followed these steps, your router’s green light should be gone, and your problem should be resolved. A green media router flashing light is normally an indication that there is an issue with your internet connection.

Media Router Flashing

If your internet connection works, your router will flash red, but you are experiencing intermittent connectivity. There is a problem with the connection between your router and the CMTS.

The problem is most likely caused by a bad plug contact. If there is a problem with the power plug, you can usually tell if it is on the back of the router. It is probably working fine if it is black. Gray plugs are unlikely to work.

If the plug is black, the reset button can be pressed for 10 seconds.

Light Flashing Green

A continuously flashing green light on your router indicates that you are having trouble with your internet connection; sometimes, you will see this as your internet light flashes. If you notice this, make sure that your cables are all plugged in securely and that nothing has come loose.

Identifying your router’s IP address and logging into it via an internet browser is the easiest way. The IP address 192.168.0.1 is what we will use in this example when we try to resolve the router flashing green on its status lights.

Using your browser, you can access your hub settings at 192.168.0.1 to resolve your media hub lights issue.

The password for the hub settings can be found at the bottom of the unit if you have not logged in before. The password must be changed.

Once you’ve logged in, go to Wireless>WPS>Advanced Settings

Both WPS options can be disabled to turn off WPS. Just click Save.

Reboot your computer by clicking Reset & Reboot in the Admin window.

When you disable WPS, the hub will stop searching for the WPS kit, which is why it flashes.

If you follow these steps, you should no longer have a flashing green light, and your problem should be resolved. This should resolve the issue, and your router’s light flashing green should also stop.
