To Help with The Rising Cost of Living, Virgin Media O2 Is Expanding Its List of Data-Free Services

Virgin Media O2 Is Expanding Its List of Data-Free Services. Virgin Media O2 has added a range of additional services for customers to use for free as part of its laudable cost of living crisis initiative.

Items such as National Energy Action, Business Debtline, Turn2Us, and more, will be available for qualifying customers to contact without incurring any charges to their monthly bills as data will not be charged for.

According to Virgin Media O2, as the cost-of-living crisis deepens, nearly two thirds (64%) of low-income households are worried about running out of data in the next three months.

Half (50% are unable to afford to buy more) are unable to do so if they run out. In the UK, around 2 million households suffer from data poverty, according to Ofcom.

By 2025, Virgin Media O2 aims to connect 1 million digitally excluded people and tackle data poverty throughout the country. By providing free mobile data to people in need, the operator created the first ever National Databank.

As part of the initiative, the Good Things Foundation has given 7.5 million GB of O2 mobile data to help over 200,000 people get connected by the end of 2023 through its network of 5,000 community organisations. Other operators are now participating as well.
